Tattoo ink is designed to remain permanently within the dermis. Laser tattoo removal works by delivering extremely short pulses of concentrated light energy into the tattoo pigment.

At MOSO Clinic, we use the Quanta Q-Plus C Evo, an advanced Q-switched laser system with three wavelengths:

1064 nm Nd:YAG
Primarily used for darker tattoo pigments such as black and dark blue.

532 nm Nd:YAG
Targets warmer pigments including red, orange and selected lighter colours.

694 nm Ruby
Provides an additional wavelength for difficult pigments including blue and green.

Having multiple wavelengths allows us to select the most appropriate laser wavelength according to the tattoo pigment and the patient's skin characteristics.

During treatment, the Q-switched laser delivers ultra-short pulses of light into the tattoo.

The laser energy is selectively absorbed by tattoo pigment, breaking larger ink particles into much smaller fragments. Your immune system then gradually clears these fragmented particles through normal biological processes.

The tattoo progressively becomes lighter after each treatment.

Laser tattoo removal is therefore not an instant process. Multiple treatments are normally required, with sufficient time between sessions for the skin to recover and the body to continue clearing fragmented pigment.

No two tattoos respond exactly the same way.

The number of treatments required depends on factors including:

Partial fading generally requires fewer treatments than complete tattoo removal.

Treatment time

Most laser tattoo removal treatments themselves take less than 30 minutes, although your appointment duration will depend on tattoo size and treatment requirements.

Comfort

Laser tattoo removal produces a sharp heat or snapping sensation.

At MOSO Clinic, patient comfort may be supported using topical anaesthetic where appropriate, ice and our Zimmer Cryo cooling system, which delivers chilled air during treatment.

Immediately afterwards

Temporary whitening or frosting of the tattoo is commonly seen immediately after laser treatment.

Redness, swelling, tenderness and occasionally blistering may develop following treatment.

Downtime

Most patients can return to normal daily activities following treatment, although the treated area requires appropriate aftercare while healing.

Professional tattoos typically contain considerably more pigment than amateur tattoos and may therefore require more sessions.

Treatment intervals are usually approximately 6 to 8 weeks or longer, depending on healing, treatment response and the area being treated.
